This is a personal account of my trip to China in August 2007. The trip was so special to me and my reactions so strong that I wanted to make a record. It may not always be politically correct, reflecting my personal reactions without much regard for personal inconsistencies. No offence is intended to any person or people and hopefully will not be taken. I was at that time 53 years old. I am English but I lived in Uganda for most of the time from 1984 to 2005 and this had a definite effect on my thinking and what I might expect from a trip to a foreign country.
